Because we are so far north the sun simply doesnt rise in this period. The opposite of that is midnight sun where the sun does not set for several months. After driving dogsled during most of the dark season we are all longing for seeing the sun again. Then finally the day arrives where the huge fireball is painting the landscape with its golden colour
