GLP-1 is able to stimulate cAMP formation in RIN 1046-38 cells, which in turn causes an increase in insulin mRNA levels and insulin release, and insulin accumulation in the culture fluid was observed by adding GLP-1 (7-37) to RIN 1046-38 cells for 1 h incubation (Drucker et al., 1987)
